First Camping Trip with the Starcraft

Friday, May 20, 2012: KOA Campground in Durham, Maine

Casey: 3 of 4 stars

Overall, a clean campground that offers all the basics (pool, game room, water/electric, firewood, store). The bathrooms were very clean and the showers were nice and hot! We enjoyed the ice cream social ($2 for a huge hot fudge sundae) and the pancake breakfast ($5 for 3 bluberry pancakes + a sausage patty). We were in an area with little privacy, but it looks like the campground has some spots in wooded areas or set back from most of the crowd.

The only real knock on the place is the "Wi-fi" offered. We had poor-to-no reception and the logon banner to gain access to Wi-fi basically states that your access will be shut down if you download large files or consume too much bandwidth. Basically, they discouraged you from using their wireless connection. In short, Wi-fi was non-existent - the signal was too poor to really do anything and I suspect you'd be shut down if you attempted to stream a Netflix movie.

KOA Durham: We were in spot B20. The "Wireless Internet" is prominantly displayed, despite the fact that you are discouraged to use it, even if you are in a spot with a decent signal.
